DreamWorks is excited to announce that we are currently accepting resumes & demo reels for the 2017 Effects Trainee Program . The goal of this program is to train effects artists and developers in the techniques and practices of creating art-directable effects for feature animation. A successful effects artist seeks out new (potentially foreign) concepts, and has the ability to work within a production team and seek advice from experts.
During the course of a 3 1/2 month curriculum, Trainees are instructed by award-winning artists and technologists while immersed in a training environment that replicates our actual productions. Past graduating FX Trainees have gone on to successful careers in visual effects.
As a Trainee, you will learn how to:
*Work at a world-class studio using cutting-edge tools
*Apply hands-on experience in a production pipeline with complex dependencies
*Continue strengthening and enhancing foundational skills to become toolset agnostic
*Interpret feedback & apply notes from creative leadership
*Conduct yourself in a professional manner while working in a collaborative environment
*Apply critical thinking to hit an artistic target
*Develop your problem-solving skills

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for recent graduates in the fields of Computer Science or Computer Graphics, and Visual Arts, who can demonstrate significant work in both fields, such as programmers who create works or art or artists who can write their own programs. We want people who can imagine cool new ideas by combining disparate forms and approaches, and then build beautiful images from them.
- Graduation or certification from a university program in Visual Arts or Computer Science , with an emphasis on Computer Graphics .
*We will accept applications from recent graduates or individuals with less than 2 years of industry experience .
*Whatever your area of study, you must be dedicated, resourceful, an excellent communicator and a team player.
*The ideal FX Trainee has knowledge of computer graphics principles & theory possesses critical thinking skills and has had exposure to third party tools, like Houdini/Maya.
- Your resume, link to your portfolio and/or reel, and a cover letter .
*A link to your website or blog indicating technical skills such as programming, math and relevant coursework is helpful as well.
Portfolio / Demo reel Guidelines (2 minutes or less in duration):
*Examples of visual effects simulations such as fire, water, destruction, dust, magic, etc
*Projects that demonstrate your creative eye in animation such as lighting, modeling, or character animation
*Visual results of coding or computer graphics-related projects
*Examples of your traditional art, such as photography, sculpture, figure drawing and/or painting
