-Gathering information on newsworthy events and write, produce and present fair, accurate and unbiased news stories as assigned. Will need to be responsible for providing on-air news including both in studio and frequent field shoots.
-Create report and help produce news specials and packages, based on either breaking news or on pre-planned stories that were promoted ahead of time.
-Assist producer in establishing sources, finding and executing enterprise news investigations, building and maintaining strong list of story ideas on a year-round basis, both long-term deeper digging stories and quicker turns, document acquisition and paper trails.
-Large community involvement, making a reasonable amount of appearances tied into the viewer community
-Develop and maintain a network of news sources providing access to exclusive local news stories.
-Stay informed on newsworthy events locally and nationally
-Work cooperatively as a team member under tight daily deadlines.
-Two years experience as a television reporter.
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent background

-Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and overnights.
-Must have the ability to work any of a 24 x 7 shift
-Must be willing to work at the station in West Hartford, CT
-Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
-Must be 18 years or older.
-This position is an AFTRA Represented job. Successful candidate will be required to join the AFTRA Union upon employment if not already a member.
-5 years of experience as a television anchor or reporter
-Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications.
-Excellent writing skills as well as very strong speech skills.
-Able to ad-lib effortlessly in various types of situations, particularly breaking news.
-Strong live reporting skills are necessary.
-Able to handle working under the pressure of intense deadlines.
-Possess the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
-Demonstrated ability to enterprise, research and plan stories.
-Demonstrated experience generating and producing news stories.
-Prior experience delivering taped and live reports.
-Can act decisively under stress and tight deadlines.
-Ability to work flexible hours (including weekends) and to return to work in emergencies depending upon news coverage.
-Prior experience reporting in a top 50 market.
