A new position has been created in the International Distribution team to focus specifically on the growth of NBC Universal’s Telemundo content offering. Telemundo is the largest US producer of Spanish Language content with over 700 hours produced per year. As the US network and content volume continues to grow, NBC Universal have decided to put the responsibility of Telemundo content distribution under the larger International Distribution team. Telemundo’s content, which was previously managed by a separate and distinct sales team, is currently being licensed in 120 countries and in over 40 languages. The ambition is to grow the distribution and revenues beyond the current levels. The position will be responsible for supporting such growth opportunities and revenue generation through the sale of this content. The product is driven by:

•Crime Super Series: High budget, 50-80 episode series filled with action, strong male/female characters and a modern edge set in the world of underground crime. Episodes are filmed on location rather than in studios and quality is very high. The most well-known example is EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS.

•Edgy Telenovelas: These are Telenovelas for today’s viewers. In the 100 episode range they have all the hallmarks of great telenovelas such as a love triangle and melodramatic life changing story arcs. However they take Telenovelas into the future with strong/sexy female leads, more challenging/ relevant storylines and a trendier feel. A great example is LA DOÑA

•Family Telenovelas: These are more traditional Telenovelas that can be aired in earlier time periods such as daytime or 6-8pm. They are in the 100 episode range. The storylines are lighter, more family oriented and based around traditional telenovela themes (e.g. Social Status, Love, Wealth, Cinderella storylines). A recent example is SILVANA SIN LANA



• Global responsibility, excluding North America, for the growth of NBC Universal’s Telemundo content offering

• Support and implement growth strategy for all Telemundo products with a strong focus on the EMEA and Asian regions

• Oversee the budget and set revenue targets for all Telemundo products

• Have detailed knowledge of developments and opportunities in the TV industry, as well as that of competitors – be the expert on Telemundo and Spanish language TV Series content.

• Identify key product trends, gaps in the market and new opportunities for this content

• Working closely with research team to identify key channel partners, potential channel slots/time periods to secure for this content

• Working closely with our marketing, research and product groups, create and build effective pitch and sales materials customized to the territory, platform and client

• Implement business development strategies to drive new revenues including participation in high-level deal negotiations, pitches to potential partners and drafting of business plans and analyses

• Create and drive new revenue streams for the company especially in the SVOD, AVOD and digital space

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional groups across international divisions of NBC Universal, including Digital Transactional, local NBCU Sales Executives and Universal Networks International on Telemundo content

• Prepare quarterly reports/presentations to international Senior Management and Telemundo Content Group

• Represent the company within the industry including participation in company conventions, activities and events

• Work with local NBCU sales executives to develop potential volume/output deals

• Ensure key partners are prioritized and managed effectively to maintain and grow relationships and critical time periods/slots

• Coordinate new windowing models with Digital and Linear teams

• Liaise with the marketing team to ensure relevant, timely and effective marketing materials are reaching customers on a daily basis

• Work closely with the Telemundo management team in Miami to ensure all new opportunities and initiatives are explored



•Minimum BA or equivalent degree

•Solid experience working in the media industry

•Exceptional sales achievements with products such as Telenovelas, tv series, theatrical features, Spanish language and/or foreign content

•Strong creative mind, with high energy and resilience

•Deep product understanding with a genuine passion for content

•Good contacts in the media industry including broadcasters and digital platforms

•A demonstrated track record of success; strong leadership and financial skills

•Knowledge of media market in international territories

•Familiarity with the critical elements of deal structuring, including pricing and media rights

•Willingness to travel

•Excellent negotiation skills

•Strong numerical and analytical skills

•Must work effectively under own initiative, able to adapt and read situations

•Spanish Speaking


•Strong sales & marketing background

•Linear media sales experience

•Digital media sales experience

•Strong strategic research and/or data analysis background is desirable

•Skills and experience in marketing a plus

•Fluency in additional foreign language(s) a plus
