The Director of Weather Operations will:
Manage ongoing relationship with major weather vendors, ensuring that all of our weather teams have the latest, up to date technology and that all contractual obligations are being met.
Identify and share best practices with all of our meteorologists to reinforce our culture of constant improvement
Oversee all training and development programs for our weather teams.
Manage our ongoing efforts to track and improve forecast accuracy
Interface with all other departments involved in our weather initiative, including technology, marketing, digital and graphics
Must have great communications and leadership skills.
Must be a meteorologist with an AMS Seal.
AMS Seal, Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology or equivalent degree
Minimum 5-years’ experience as a meteorologist in a television news operation
This is NOT an on air position
Should be willing to travel
Location: Flexible, but prefer New York
Reports to SVP News Content and Standards, NBC Universal Owned Television Stations
Should have hands on experience using the latest weather technology, including The Weather Company’s Max System and live radar operations. Knowledge of weather modeling is also a plus.
