The Producer Development Program is a 18 month fast-track, highly competitive program designed to give participants news-gathering and production skills required to be a successful News Producer. The first 12 months will be located in our KXAS station in Dallas and the remaining 6 months will be located in MSNBC in New York. If selected for a Producer role after the program, please note that the role would be based in MSNBC in New York. Participants in the program will work in a fast paced newsroom within a NBC Owned & Operated Station and the MSNBC News division. Early career journalists with diverse backgrounds hone research skills, work on developing, writing and editing news stories for TV and Digital. This includes participating in field and studio production on a variety of news programs. Each Producer Associate is assigned a mentor who is an experienced staff member. Associates also undergo an intense week-long orientation filled with workshops, lunches with guest speakers and training. This is also a paid position.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 1-2 years of small to medium market experience as a producer or reporter
