Responsibilities

NBC’s flagship station is looking for a highly motivated and experienced researcher. In this position you will coordinate with and support sales, business development, marketing, and our news team in telling our story.

Reporting to the VP, Research; the Research Manager is responsible for leveraging linear, digital, and other syndicated audience measures to deliver prescriptive insights that drive audience and business development for WNBC.

•Provide regular sales ratings highlights, competitive qualitative positioning, and market category spending trends to sales team; customized linear and digital research reports, one-sheets and decks that position station programming and capabilities

•Recommend research solutions based on specific marketing promotions, sales, or finance requests

•Work with Sales in the development of strategic methods to increase revenue for WNBC, COZI, Digital platforms and OOH

•Occasionally present WNBC audience and marketplace insights at weekly sales meeting

•Craft insightful analyses and PowerPoint presentations for sales in partnership with the integrated team and station leadership across all platforms (WNBC, COZI, Digital platforms, OOH, etc.)

•Occasionally provide news leadership with rating trends and utilize Nielsen tools to identify notable opportunities

•Collaborate with NBC and Telemundo research colleagues in sharing and implementation of best practices and work closely with sister station WNJU on duopoly opportunities.

•Perform secondary market research analysis, including online/periodical, syndicated, and trends analysis

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

•3+ years in the media research field with expertise in Nielsen ratings, syndicated products (Simmons, Scarborough) and emerging alternative audience measurement tools

•Familiarity with digital measurement tools (Adobe Omniture, comScore)

•Exceptional MS Office skills; Excel – Deep knowledge on functions, macros, etc.; PowerPoint and Word

•Experience in the local television marketplace

•Bachelor’s Degree
