NBC Universal Manager, Front of House Operations – Blue Man Group in Orlando, Florida

Job Description

SUMMARY: Responsible for driving and growing the successful operation of the Blue Man Group Front of House and leading a team in all Rev Ops and Theatre operations while providing exemplary guest service. Also responsible for partnering with the Assistant Manager, Box Office Operations to oversee the ticketing system daily operations.


  • Oversee, and help coordinate with BMG supervisors, the daily operational activities of theatre/usher team, box office/agents, and Rev Ops/Merchandise team members. Manages the day-to-day operations while providing a safe environment, superior guest service, cleanliness and efficiency. Responsible for opening or closing the department and/or manager-on-duty responsibilities depending on scheduled shift. Works with the supervisors to ensure business units are appropriately staffed and operationally ready by Showtime. Responsible for any guest situations, special events, ticketing issues and other tasks related to the everyday theater operation.

  • Manages supervisors and hourly team members by providing feedback on performance, giving direction on how to handle, solve and prevent situations and developing communication, decision making and reasoning skills. Creates development plans, gives direction to Supervisors on administering memos and employee counseling’s. Ensures all team member schedules, performance appraisals and documentation is completed in a timely and consistent manner. Addresses employee situations as needed and collaborates with HR team when necessary for guidance.

  • Provides support and long-term planning of the Blue Man Group Operations. Focuses on sales initiatives and revenue enhancing programs by constantly looking for opportunities to maximize financial goals.

  • Establish proper systems to ensure team member schedules, performance appraisals, and counseling’s are administered by the supervisor accurately and on time.

  • Establishes and collaborates with supporting department leaders, including Sales, HR, Staffing, Talent and Development, CW and Tech Services.

  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position supervises (2-10) Full-time Exempt Non-supervisory level Team Members, and (50-60) Casual Hourly Team Members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

  • High school degree or GED is required. Associate’s degree (AA) or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.


  • 3-5 Years Managerial experience as well as experience with Theatre Operations required. 5-7 Years experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Will require a valid Florida state driver’s license.


While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Regularly (2/3 of the time or more) stand, sit or walk for prolonged periods (including ability to walk at a given pace that is predetermined by a moving sidewalk); work in an environment with flashing lights including strobe lamps; talk; hear audible alarms, voice commands with background noise; use hands and fingers to grip, pinch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; climb stairs/ladders.

  • Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) work at heights for prolonged periods of time including heights with or without railings or over open pits greater than 4 feet; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; reach, pull, push with hands and arms above/below head; repeat motions more than twice per minute; work in an environment subject to vibrations; use repetition-using an input device-a keyboard or mouse-in a steady manner; work in varied light conditions including low or diminished lighting; maintain alertness and attentiveness up to 4 hours while working varying hours; maintain concentration/focus (e.g., ability to interpret the work environment and make decisions on predetermined operating policies and procedure); smell.

  • Occasionally (1/3 of the time or less) push up to 50 pounds with control; lift up to 25 pounds with control.

  • Specific vision requirements for this role may include: close vision with or without corrective lens (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision with or without corrective lens (clear vision at 20 feet or more); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus while in changing light conditions e.g., sunshine to indoor or dark conditions).


While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) work in outdoor weather conditions to include direct sunlight, heat or cold; work with compressed gas cylinders or tanks; be exposed to bodily fluids (blood, vomit); use a motorized company vehicle or a leased or personal vehicle for company business.
