This role requires an individual with experience in Unified Communications Technologies, IP telephony, and Communications Protocols. The candidate must interface globally and have experience with daily operations and support of traditional and unified communications solutions. The individual will need to demonstrate leadership qualities, strong communication skills, financial prudence and proactive management in the planning, and delivery of telecommunications infrastructure and services. This role will require both technical knowledge of communications technologies and the ability to articulate and demonstrate UC solutions.
This position works with and supports the NBC Sports Group Stamford facility and the Olympics telecommunications architecture and operations.
This position will work closely with the VP, Olympics IT to plan, support and interact with NBC Olympics and their partners. This position will interface with host organizations to ensure proper communication as well as interface directly with their counterparts in other organizations.
This position requires working closely with Production and Engineering personnel in order to develop the needs for production during the planning phases of the Olympics and then implement and execute the plan smoothly and without interruptions in the country of the Olympic games.
Ensures the engineering designs, plans, maintenance and other activities resulting in a solid and reliable telecommunications operation; inclusive of on premise and central office based telephone systems and equipment, telecommunication service providers, mobile phone provisioning and operations during the Olympic games and the integration or unification of various communication platforms and systems.
Directs and coordinates the allocation and installation of both fixed and mobile telecommunication services and systems. Assists in the development of Requests for Proposals and planning for the telecommunications services required for NBC’s broadcast coverage of the Olympic event. Provides technical and operational direction to and direct supervision of telecommunications installers and technicians. Maintains the inventory of all distributed telecommunications equipment and ensures recovery after the games. Provides end-user training on mobile and telephone terminal devices. Develops and maintains the Olympic services database and the Games-time corporate directory. Ensures that the budgetary goals are met by careful inspection and reconciliation of invoices.
Interfaces with the Operations and Production departments to ensure all their communication and routing needs are being met. Interacts with telecommunication carriers to resolve issues, escalations, maintenance, and overall performance.
Interacts with the IOC and OBS and other professional organizations to ensure planning and circuit orders are executed to plan. This includes garnering a relationship with the organizations to ensure all needs are met.
Manages the Design and Creation of standard operating procedures for all collaborative technologies and activities, which include: PBX, call manager, telepresence, chat, and other collaborative technologies.
Must have the ability to design, document and manage new platforms as well as workflows.
Travel will be required, particularly in preparation for and during the years in which the Olympic games take place. A rare opportunity to explore the world for the candidate who enjoys adventure.
BS Degree or equivalent with relevant experience in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, completion of advanced technical IT training program, military or equivalent experienceRequiredKnowledge and experience of:

Prior operations experience in “Live” TV production environment
The ability to work effectively in high stress situations and a fast-paced environment
Must be proficient with MS Office, Visio, and/or AutoCAD.
Ability to prepare and deliver written and oral communications of complex matters.
Ability to escalate critical communication problems quickly and efficiently in order to minimize disruptions and ability to work around failures to mitigate interruptions to the Live productions
Possible travel to remote sporting events, production locations and 8-12 weeks of travel to the Olympic city each Olympic cycle.
