Role Purpose

NBC Sports is looking for a digital-first video journalist tasked with re-imagining what sports news/feature content should look like in 2017. This person will experiment with emerging technologies to develop a sleek video sports offering for the ever-expanding mobile and digital landscape. Must have experience with capturing and editing footage, conducting interviews in the field, and experimenting with mobile technologies and social media. We’re looking for someone with an artistic eye and strong storytelling abilities, but someone who is not afraid to experiment, push boundaries, include themselves in the story and have fun. An understanding of the intersection of pop culture and sports is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Create, shoot, and edit videos for NBCSports.com and all NBC Sports social media outlets

  • Generate ideas and experiment with new formats and content types around NBC Sports’ key tent-pole sports (NFL, NHL, Premier League, NASCAR, Triple Crown, etc.)

  • Work with NBC Sports Digital, Social, Linear TV and Sales teams to map out content plan

  • Possible travel to key sporting events on NBC calendar to capture video and create content

  • Keep track of viral trends and create content around to complement them

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a digital content producer in sports, news, entertainment, animation or filmmakingAdditional Skills Required

  • Proficient in Avid, Adobe After Effects and Photoshop

  • Must have experience with Sony F7’s and DSLR shooting, lighting and audio

  • Understanding of digital/social analytics

  • Must submit examples of up to three videos you created as a one-person band, as well as any social media innovations or campaigns you developed and launchedEligibility Requirements
