  • Ensures the engineering designs, plans, maintenance and other activities results in a safe and reliable transmission operation; inclusive of transmission lines, switching stations, encoding/decoding, frame syncs, routing and scheduling systems.

  • Interfaces with the Operations and Production departments to ensure all their transmission and routing needs are being met.

  • Interacts with transmission carriers to resolve issues, escalations, maintenance, and overall performance.

  • Ability to follow standard operation procedures for all transmission technologies activities, which include: audio/video and communications check-in and QC process for remotes, outgoing transmission activity, and ingest.

  • Responsible for maintaining the transmission and communication systems to ensure maximum reliability for all live Sports productions.

  • Perform preventative system maintenance on Broadcast Systems according to plans already in place.

  • Need to have the ability to work with problems resolution check lists, and systems for tracking transmission logs.


Basic Qualifications

  • Experience component level engineering maintenance experience required with preferred experience of two (2) years of collective broadcast experience.

  • Knowledge of fiber optic and coax transport, MPEG 2 and 4 encoding and decoding, ASI, MPEG over IP, Dolby-E, MATV/ IPTV, multi-way processors, standards converters, frame syncs, matrix based communications systems, and plant routing systems.

  • Ability to comprehend signal flow documents (CAD) as well as systems level troubleshooting.

  • This position includes some operational type work as well as hands on highly technical engineering that requires advance troubleshooting and signal flow skills.

  • Must be proficient with broadcast test and measurement equipment in addition to MS Office, Visio, and AutoCAD.

  • Excellent communicator and able to interface with high functioning operations teams while interfacing with Engineering, Operations, Production, and 3rd party vendors.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Position requires a cool, level headed individual who works well under the pressures of “live” television.

  • Ability to prepare and deliver written and oral communications of complex matters.

  • Position may require nights and weekend assignments.Eligibility Requirements
