NBC Digital Entertainment is looking for a motivated Director that can deliver results in a fast-paced environment, applying innovative data science techniques to the broadcast television business. The Director of Data Science will manage a team of passionate Analysts and Data Scientists. The team provides analyses, business intelligence, and data science to multiple groups within the organization, including: Product, Engineering, Marketing, Media, Strategy, Finance and Social. This is a highly visible role that will work closely with multiple levels of leadership within NBC Digital.
Lead a team of Data Scientists and Analysts. Mentor the team to develop a cultural of ownership, innovation and excellence.
Keeping up to date on latest techniques from both the data science and analytics worlds and educating the team.
Operating at a code level, creating scripts that run directly on our databases.
Provide ad-hoc analyses, troubleshooting, and deep dives as needed. Apply proven methods for analyses, data science, and predictive modeling, such as: segmentation, clustering, regression, and decision tree modeling.
Partner closely with various internal groups to maintain business knowledge and understand prioritizations. Develop a deep understanding of KPI’s that affect each group. Provide entrepreneurial guidance based on findings.
Build out standardized reporting for multiple groups within the organization. Create requirements for new data sources and ETL for new reports. Help QA and ensure business definitions are accurate.
Provide technical leadership in the data science and data engineering space. Contribute to strategy and planning of long term projects.
Create presentations and communicate findings in regular weekly/monthly presentations.
Manage backlog to ensure timely delivery of prioritized tasks. Help run daily scrum and backlog grooming processes.
Create, define, and document processes and analyses. Help drive data governance initiatives within the organization.
10+ years of applied work experience in Analytics, Data Science, and or BI.
3+ years of managing a team. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and cultivate team members.
BS, MS, and/or PHD in a quantitative field from a top tier institution, such as Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or Economics. Master’s Degree PreferredEligibility Requirements:

Hands on experience analyzing and mining large datasets.
Strong applied experience with SQL and Relational Databases.
Strong applied experience and/or working knowledge of R, Python, Scala or Java.
Experience with predictive modeling, multi-regression, decision tress, and cluster analysis.
Experience with BI visualization tools such as Domo, Tableau, Qlik, or Microstrategy
Knowledgeable in web analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics or Mixpanel.
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
Proven ownership abilities. Can deliver results with a sense of accountability and proactivity.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced, high throughput environment. Previous experience in Digital Entertainment, High Tech, or Digital Marketing industries is preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate and present findings to leadership and peers.
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to partner and earn the trust of constituents.
