The Paralegal will work within the Film Music Business & Legal Affairs and licensing teams, in partnership with other members of the Film Music department, to help generate, negotiate and review licensing agreements, conduct research and prepare memoranda regarding music rights, and maintain and track intellectual property owned by Universal. Candidate should possess knowledge of the legal aspects of the entertainment industry and familiarity with various types of relevant agreements. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are of utmost importance.
Primary responsibilities will include license review and negotiation, contract analysis, and contract summaries.
The paralegal will examine all necessary documents, as requested, to determine Universal’s rights and contractual obligations, generate reports as needed, and ensure that all dates are tracked accurately.
The paralegal will identify material contractual data, deal points and clauses, interpret them correctly, and enter the information into a proprietary database or other report as directed.
The paralegal oversee soundtrack releases by Universal’s record label Back Lot Music.
Light filing and circulation or other distribution of prepared materials may be required.
Minimum of 2 years of paralegal, contract analysis, or legal assistant experience in the area of entertainment law, preferably with experience in Business Affairs or Legal Affairs dept at a movie studio, major production company, record label or music publishing company.
Ability to read, analyze, interpret and summarize contracts
Ability to work independently and diligently with little supervision and meet deadlines
Prefer Bachelors Degree and/or Paralegal CertificateEligibility Requirements:

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
Database management experience (legal database systems are a plus)

Ability to exercise discretion with sensitive information
