The Sr. Director Retail Development – E-Commerce focuses on driving sales activity for Universal Pictures theatrical releases and NBC Television programs across the e-commerce landscape with an emphasis on Amazon. The focus of the position is to deliver significant sales within this channel. This position is based in Universal City, CA.
Manages the overall retail relationships with marketing and buyers for Amazon and the e-commerce channel, developing strong relationships with frequent communication both in-person and electronically.
Collaboratively partner with the SVP, Retail & VP, Retail Mass & E-commerce to develop the strategic vision and planning of programs across the E-commerce channel.
Develops, analyzes & recommends digital marketing and business strategies including program development, category support, sales growth plans and overall business development.
Monitors, observes, researches and recommends action plans to address dynamic business shifts including sales trends, competitive landscape, new retail development and categorical changes.
Responsible for organizing meetings and film/TV/Property presentations with Amazon and the e-commerce channel and collaborating with the marketing group on pitch materials and idea generation.
Analyzes retail sales, develops and updates retailer budget.
Monitors expenses & maintains expenditures under company budget.
Develops retail timing & action calendar that directs internal and external teams to meet deadlines and streamline processes.
Activate digital marketing tactics to drive traffic to our brands and adopt best in class digital marketing strategies including ensuring search functions are optimized for NBCU properties.
Track traffic, conversion and other key metrics to drive strategy development and activations to react fast to failed searches.
Works with Manager, e-commerce to develop relationships and meet with buyers on an ongoing basis to ensure they are up to date on current properties, licensees and product offerings.
Partner with licensees and promotional partners with sell in of products at Amazon and e-commerce channel for all relevant NBCUniversal properties; Regularly reviews performance of existing licensees and makes recommendations based on buyer feedback and first-hand experience.
Be the E-commerce “expert” for group. Keep up to date on strategies, organizational structure and business objectives
Stay up to date on retail and marketing trends.
Manages Manager, Retail Development E-commerce
7+ years of e-commerce, marketing, retail and/or ad sales experience with significant experience creating large-scale programs
Deep knowledge of retail business including retail marketing tactics, promotional partners/packaged goods, home entertainment, and consumer products
Strong pitching and negotiating skills with the demonstrated ability to close large deals
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and consistently with supervisor, USP&L colleagues and cross-divisional stakeholders
