Role Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the HR Coordinator will gain valuable hands-on work experience through diverse array of responsibilities that will provide you wide exposure to Human Resources practices.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the recruiting process by preparing job descriptions, reviewing resumes, setting up interviews and may on occasion be conducting interviews with the hiring manager.

  • Coordinate on-boarding process such has creating offer letters, setting up new hire files, conducting employee orientation etc.

  • Responsible for updating & maintaining employee records and files, including office files and HRIS (SAP) system.

  • General Administrative duties including but not limited to filing, maintenance of employee personal files, maintenance of all departmental forms etc.

  • Participate in the organization of internal staff/functions.

  • Coordinate events such as Take Your kids To Work, Flu Clinic etc.

  • Participate and assist in all social committees i.e. Employee Holiday Party, Summer Social, Fundraising etc.

  • Provide general admin support to the HR department such as preparation of employee communications, letters of employment, responding to inquiries regarding benefits and HR policies, maintaining and updating the HR intranet site as needed.

  • Assist with HR projects, initiatives and processes on an as per need basis.Administer aspects of payroll and benefits coordination, Bi-weekly payroll preparation included but not limited to:

  • Data entry in payroll system (Ceridian), including new hires, salary adjustments, benefits amendments, retro payments, employee deductions, overtime etc.

  • Update HR database (SAP) with new hire info, terminations, salary/position adjustments etc.

  • Reconcile payroll bi-weekly

  • Resolution of payroll issues and discrepancies

  • Process savings plan enrollment forms and coordinate withdrawals (employee requested) with benefit provider

  • Update benefit provider database re benefits enrollment, amendments, salary adjustments etc.Employee Assistance:

  • Respond to inquiries regarding payroll, benefits as required

  • Assist Division Heads on an as needed basisVendor Maintenance:

  • Create vendors in SAP once approved from Finance

  • Upon request from Finance, update vendor information such as address, unblock, remove deletion flags from vendors

  • Extend vendors to various company codes as per U.S. and Canadian Finance teamsBasic Qualifications

  • College or University Education

  • HR Certification

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and networking skills

  • Good PC skills including Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook

  • Working knowledge of payroll

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively with all levels in an organization

  • Superior attention to detail, organization, confidentiality and quality

  • Understanding of HR practices

  • Team player willing to take direction as required

  • An interest in Human Resources, a flare for recruitment, and great analytical skillsDesired

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in an HR environment

  • Established recruiting and interviewing skills

  • Experience with Ceridian Payroll strongly desired
