Job Description

Responsibilities will include in-depth involvement in all legal and business affairs aspects of the Production and Acquisitions group business including:

• Structuring, negotiating, drafting and reviewing acquisition, pre-buy, co-production, co-financing, and commissioning agreements including experience of all aspects of production finance including NOAs, IPAs, security agreements, tax and other incentive arrangements across all genres, rights and territories

• Negotiating, drafting and reviewing development, first-look and talent agreements

• Providing support for our in-house production projects, including concluding above-the-line, crew, location and production services agreements

• Working closely with commercial colleagues to devise and implement optimal negotiation strategy and deal structures

• Understanding revenue generation models for Studio content and in particular, understanding licensing and “windowing” arrangements across international markets

• Being responsible for acquisition and production related disputes and litigation and instructing and managing internal and external litigation counsel as required

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• A lawyer qualified in the UK or another common law jurisdiction, with significant post-qualification experience, preferably including both in-house business affairs experience as well as in private practice

• Expertise within the media industry and a strong background in copyright and other intellectual property law, with capability of advising on a wide range of legal matters including contract, commercial, litigation and company law beneficial

• Solid experience at a top law firm, major Studio, production company, broadcaster or distributor handling film and/or television legal and business affairs matters

• An ability to interact with a range of personalities and styles and be able to establish effective relationships at all levels and respond effectively and timely to demanding internal clients and external partners
