JOB SUMMARY : [The Merchandise Planner provides planning and strategic direction to the UPRM Product Development Team. This includes the analysis related to performance of SKUs, product and category hierarchy, vendors, intellectual properties, retail pricing, assortment size and open to buy management. Develop & Produce routine and non-routine business reports that leverage data from several disparate systems to drive analysis. The Merchandise Planner creates revenue and receipt plans for assigned categories. Approve purchase orders for new and existing items.
Perform analysis for assigned product categories to include but not limited to performance of SKUs, product and category hierarchy, vendors, intellectual properties, retail pricing, assortment size and open to buy management. Based on the analysis provide strategic direction to the Product Development Teams on the size, scope and composition of the product assortment, at both the product hierarchy and intellectual property levels, to maximize positive financial results.
Develop revenue and receipt plans for assigned categories that determine the categories revenue, open to buy and cost of goods targets that are leveraged by the Finance Departments to build the Annual Operating Budgets and the Open to Buy. Focus is placed on changes in sales trends by Intellectual properties, symphony efforts, park initiatives and events, pricing initiatives, and category changes.
Develop & Produce routine and non-routine business reports that leverage data from several disparate systems to drive analysis. These reports and their interpretations are the foundation of operating the retail business and developing sourcing strategies by focusing on key performance indicator metrics such as Sales trends, COGS, Retail and Gross Margin Per Capita, Unit Penetration, Gross Margin, and Inventory Turns.
Prepare Department teams for line/business reviews. Include review of financial performance, pricing strategy, inventory summary, and performance by IP.
Develop Buy Plans and Assortment Plans for Special Events, Store openings and major development programs to include the revenue expectations of the plan as well as the initial order quantities for SKUs on the plan. Provide reporting on the Buy Plans and conduct a Post-Mortem at their conclusion to provide direction for future events.
Review and approve Purchase Orders for assigned Departments according to UPRM established guidelines for new and existing items.
Supervise Associate planners as necessary and provide mentoring for Merchandise Analysts assigned to common product categories.
SCOPE: The Merchandise Planner provides planning and strategic direction to the UPRM Product Development Team. Develop & Produce routine and non-routine business reports, creates revenue and receipt plans for assigned categories and approve purchase orders for new and existing items.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree is required.
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 Years: Experience in Retail or Financial analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
